Therapy, with Cale.
My approach
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist with 13 years of experience. My style has always been especially warm, connected, and candid. I aspire to help clients talk in an open, easy manner about the truths that they hide from themselves and from others. I use a calibrated sense of humor and irreverence to build rapport and move at your pace.
“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”
― Fred Rogers
In my view, almost all of therapy is reducible down to recognizing and deeply grieving our pain. I’m here to do that work with you, as a witness and consultant. I’m experienced enough in this field to offer you agile navigation of mental health diagnoses; to help you workshop your relational troubles; and to problem-solve stuck patterns. But at the core, I feel that I am doing my best work for clients when we co-create a warm, safe container in which you can deeply meet and feel compassion for your wounded inner parts - the ones you ignore, numb, and exile.
I view effective relationship therapy as a similar adventure. My job is to create very strong connection with both partners, and to teach you to witness each other more deeply - to dive past all the “failed attempted solutions” and create a new experience of intimacy while telling the radical truth to each other. I no longer feel it is my job to “keep couples together”, per se. Rather, it’s my mission to help couples achieve dignified, emotionally-regulated honesty with one another. The process might lead to difficult changes, even relationship dissolution. It’s my honor to witness that real, raw, and vulnerable work - and to shepherd it in a peaceful, productive way.
